    Basic elements in an IBAK TV van - description

    A TV inspection vehicle is typically made up of the following basic elements:

    • Interior that is specially built in a TV-van
    • 2 Tractor systems for main line
    • Lateral system
    • Push camera
    • Cable drum & cable
    • Control unit
    • PC with hardware & software as well
    • Power supply / battery pack



    Delivery time for a specially built TV car is approx. 8-10 weeks from receipt of order and delivery of vehicle to factory in Kiel.

    Quantity

    The build is based on a catalogue of layout suggestions, adaptable to the needs of the individual customer. The layout of the TV van is done in minute detail, both regarding practical details and choice of materials. A 3D blueprint is made before the customer makes their final decision regarding layout, and the TV inspection systems will be described in a technical document.

    Interior Layout:

    There are two classic models to use as base model: 

    - IBAK TV-bil model MB sprinter A3 standard - This has separate TV operator and wet rooms, where the TV operator faces the back of the vehicle and looks through a window to the wetroom.

    - IBAK TV-van Model MB Sprinter A4 walk through - Here, the operator can move between the cab of the vehicle and the TV operator room via a sliding door to the wet room, and can leave the vehicle through the back door. In this configuration, the TV operator faces the left side of the vehicle. This model is often used in larger cities with a lot of traffic, as it is possible to complete the TV inspection with no danger to traffic and cyclists.

    The vehicles can be delivered with microwave oven, refrigerator, and coffee machine if desired. The number of PC monitors and screens, and the sizes thereof, are chosen by the customer.

    We can design and equip all types of vehicles - usually, weight are comfort are the only restrictions. For larger solutions, we are happy to equip an IBAK TV Truck Model with interior layout in a fibreglass box, available in the desired size.

    Customers can choose to provide their own vehicle for us to equip, or we can deliver one through our business partners.

    TV Inspection Systems:

    Two tractor systems are often selected, in order to cover the dimension span of DN 100 mm - 2000 mm. This allows overlap/redundancy in large parts of the dimension span, creating a greater coverage and reliability for the user. One system could be the IBAK Orion 3 Camera Head combined with the IBAK Camera Tractor T66 / T66 HD, which cover the span of DN 100 mm - 600 mm. The tractor uses a riser from DN 300 mm, and extra illumination is not needed, even for a DN 600 mm pipe. T66 comes with ATC (Automatic Tilt Compensation), ensuring that the tractor autocorrects at a 15 degree tilt so it doesn't tip over. Inclinometers are also available. The other system is often equipped with an IBAK Orpheus 2 HD Camera Head and an IBAK Tractor T76 (incl. ATC), which covers dimensions of DN 150 mm and up. Using only TWO tractors, this whole dimension span is covered.

    For inspection of laterals, we have the IBAK LISY HD Lateral System, which covers a span of DN 300 mm - 2000mm. It includes a cable drum with 180 mtr. push rod, of which 40 mtr. can be entered in connector, including relined plug-on-plug. An Orion 3 L Camera Head with guide rod is often used, but another alternative is the smaller IBAK Nano-L Camera Head.  When a lateral system is used, two cables go in the pipe; one for the T76 tractor and one for the LISY. When reversing the tractor, it is therefore recommended to have an IBAK RETRUS HD Rear Camera mounted.

    The push camera system MiniLite 2 (DN 100 mm - 300mm) is also usually selected. This can function either as a stand-alone system or can be connected directly to the TV inspection van's operationg system from e.g. 500 mtr. away using a cable drum. MiniLite is typically used with an ORION-L pan/rotate camera head.

    An motor-driven or fully automatic cable drum with 300, 500, or 600 mtr. is the preferred choice for the above-mentioned systems. Fibre optic cable, which offers superior picture quaity to traditional coaxial cable, is also available and comes as standard from 300 mtr. and up.

    For TV vans equipped with fibre optic cable, it is possible to purchase IBAK's new 3D GeoSense system for measuring main and branch pipes.

    Control Unit:

    IBAK offer several different control units, depending on specific customer requirements and the type of cable drum selected in the build. All control units have 2 multi-functional joysticks for control tractor and camera head. The largest operating system, BS5, kan operate a 600 mtr. cable drum with an additional 200 mtr. drum connected, as well as connection of push camera or tractor. The other available operating systems are BS3.5, BS7, and BS10.

    PC with hardware and software:

    Industry PC with IBAK's own software IBAK IKAS Evolution TV Inspection Software for TV Van is a powerful option for processing TV inspection data. In compliance with inspection specifications (standard GIS interface), IKAS Evolution offers comprehensive input validation. Using IKAS Evolution ReportViewer, inspection data (digital reports, statistics, MPEG video, and JPEG photo) can be downloaded to many media formats (DVD, USB stick, hard drive etc.) and from here be viewed or transferred to a third party. It is also possible to use other software systems, such as WinCan VX.

    Power supply / battery pack:

    The battery is usually 480 Ah or 640 Ah, which is sufficient for 8-10 hours of use with having to restart the engine/generator in order to complete the task.
